Before you can start showing off your hairstyling skills, you will need to pass your state’s cosmetology requirements. This often means completing a beauty school program and taking the state licensing exam. However, you don’t have to go through the process on your own—you can get help from the Cosmetology Study Guide app!
This iOS app is a must-have for any cosmetology student or anyone with an interest in the field of beauty. You will find a variety of cosmetology-related questions that will help you review the skills and lessons you have learned while also preparing for topics that are likely to be covered on the test.
You can use this app during your time here at the Long Island Beauty School to help you study. Call us today at (888) 804-2615 to learn more about our cosmetology school in Hempstead and Hauppauge.

Do you always know what is hot in fashion and style long before your friends? If so, a career in cosmetology may be the choice for you! You can study various hairstyling techniques when you attend beauty school. After your training, you will be able to provide clients with these new summer hairstyles:
If you have clients who are ready to wear their hair down this summer, try giving them a tousled hairstyle. Use a root-lifting volumizer to give the hair more body before blow drying it. Once dry, add a bit more volumizer to create a slight wave in the hair. Next, gently backcomb the client’s hair from the root to the end, finishing with hairspray. Finally, use a straightening iron on a few sections of hair to add more dimensions.
This hairstyle may be a convenient choice when participating in physical activity, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be stylish! A ponytail provides the perfect hairstyle for showing off a gorgeous face and keeping cool in the summer heat. Start by adding gel or a heat protector to your client’s hair and blow drying it with a round brush. Use large hot rollers on separated sections of hair, and brush through to give the hair more body and life. Place the client’s hair into a ponytail, making sure to keep it as smooth and sleek as possible.
These chic cuts have become much more popular recently. However, clients don’t need to have short hair to enjoy a bob. You can give them a faux bob by curling the top layer of hair, gently placing hair into a low ponytail, and then tucking and pinning hair under until it resembles a sassy bob.
These are just some of the styles you can learn when you study here at Long Island Beauty School! Give us a call today at (888) 804-2615 for more information about our cosmetology courses and student services.
